Amongst the movies listed on Pixar’s slate of planned features is an adaptation of the Philip K. Dick story King of the Elves. The story, which has been anthologized several times, involves a gas-station attendant who gives a group of elves shelter from a storm. In gratitude, they make him their monarch.

The film is due out in 2012. It’s listed as “Disney’s King of the Elves,” which makes me vaguely queasy. Isn’t a Disney-PKD pairing one of the signs of the impending apocalypse?
