Apparently riding the wave of recent big-budget fantasy movies, Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern novels have been optioned by the Canadian film production company Copperheart Entertainment.

I’m questioning this a little:

“I decided that Pern had to be done right and I wouldn’t let it go to someone unless I was certain that they were committed to excellence,” says Anne McCaffrey.

Copperheart is best known for the Ginger Snaps series of angsty teen werewolf films, and is currently working on a remake of the 1970s cult horror flick Black Christmas. I’m not sure how that squares up with “committed to excellence.”

Anyway, dragons on the big screen. Whoo.
