Chip was introduced to "speculative fiction" (Horror, Science Fiction, and Fantasy) at an early and terribly impressionable age when her father (a truly gonzo SF/F fan himself) tossed Robert A. Heinlein's The Door Into Summer into her lap and suggested casually that she might enjoy it. She frequently cites this anecdote when attempting to explain the dubious origins of her personality.
Chip is happily married to (and perennial straight woman for) fellow O*W*C host Shadow, and is proof that internet relationships can occasionally actually work out. (Her "Chip" nickname often causes her to be mistaken for a man online, causing vast amusement for her and mild consternation for Shadow.)
Her hobbies include reading, cooking, gardening, sewing, and annoying people via the Internet.
