The studio has announced that they’ll be adapting the first two books of Dan Simmons’ Hyperion Cantos (Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion) into one feature film. Trevor Sands, a relative newcomer, convinced the studio to let him write the adaptation by “taking a selective approach to the two novels’ multiple points of view in a way that managed to coherently and unconfusingly tell the story.” I’ll believe that when I see it.

Graham King (The Departed, Blood Diamond, The Aviator) will be producing. No word on a director yet.

This would be a pretty awesome movie with the right script and a big enough budget. I’d love to see a CGI Shrike.
