Ian McDonald’s River of Gods Now in U.S. Edition

McDonald’s “bollypunk” River of Gods, which impressed the heck out of Shadow, has finally got a U.S. edition, published by Pyr Books (Shadow had to get his from Amazon U.K.). Since I haven’t yet managed to convince Shadow to do guest reviews on this blog, you can read Cory Doctorow’s review of it here.

  1. Actually, I flew to England to buy it (though we did do a few other things while we were there). It was far and away the best genre book I read that year. It may be the best book I’ve read this century. It was a Hugo nominee at Interaction, but it was doomed to lose to a fantasy doorstop, since there was no U.S. edition available prior to voting. My fear that the Hugo novel category had become a publisher’s beauty contest was partially allayed by the victory of SPIN at LA Con last year.
