First, the good news: Joss Whedon, of Firefly fame, is coming back to television with a new SF series called Dollhouse.

Now, the bad news: It’s been bought by Fox, who seems to make a hobby out of canceling promising SFTV.

The premise is kind of neat: The ultra-rich can buy a perfect fantasy, whatever they want, which is fulfilled by a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language and even muscle memory. After their role in the fantasy is complete, the “players” have their memories of the experience wiped. The series stars Eliza Dushku, whose character stops forgetting.
