Dick story <I>King of the Elves<\/I>.  The story, which has been <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Selected-Stories-Philip-K-Dick\/dp\/0375421513\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;tag=shadmano-20&#038;qid=1207924047&#038;sr=8-1\">anthologized<\/A> several times, involves a gas-station attendant who gives a group of elves shelter from a storm.  In gratitude, they make him their monarch.<\/p>\n<p>The film is due out in 2012.  It&#8217;s listed as &#8220;Disney&#8217;s King of the Elves,&#8221; which makes me vaguely queasy.
