{"id":3097,"date":"2009-10-07T07:00:10","date_gmt":"2009-10-07T11:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/other-worlds-cafe.com\/news\/blog\/?p=3097"},"modified":"2009-10-06T10:42:33","modified_gmt":"2009-10-06T14:42:33","slug":"strike-a-silly-blow-for-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/other-worlds-cafe.com\/news\/blog\/?p=3097","title":{"rendered":"Strike a Silly Blow for Science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/other-worlds-cafe.com\/news\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/treelobsters.jpg\" alt=\"Tree Lobsters\" title=\"Tree Lobsters\" width=\"150\" height=\"115\" class=\"contentimg\" \/>On November 19, the dynamic duo of whackjobbery Kirk &#8220;if evolution is real why aren&#8217;t there crocoducks?&#8221; Cameron and Ray &#8220;the existence of god is proved by bananas&#8221; Comfort* will be distributing 50,000 free copies of Darwin&#8217;s <i>Origin of Species<\/i> to universities across the U.S.  The catch, of course, is that a <a href=\"http:\/\/assets.livingwaters.com\/pdf\/OriginofSpecies.pdf\">50-page introduction<\/a> (Warning: The stupid at the other end of that link burns) has been added which talks about how evolution has never been proved and how Darwin inspired the Holocaust.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Dawkins <a href=\"http:\/\/richarddawkins.net\/article,4319,Kirk-Cameron-has-gone-too-far-But-we-can-stop-him,-Kirk-Cameron-has-gone-too-far-But-we-can-stop-him---Facebook\">suggests<\/a> that as many copies as possible be collected, the introduction be removed, and the cleansed books be donated to schools and libraries.<\/p>\n<p>Tree Lobsters has another good idea: He&#8217;s resized <a href=\"http:\/\/treelobsters.blogspot.com\/2009\/10\/87-awkward-introduction.html\">this comic<\/a> to print out neatly as bookmarks.  <a href=\"http:\/\/treelobsters.blogspot.com\/2009\/10\/anti-anti-science-bookmark.html\">Print out a few<\/a> and offer them as a companion to the book.  I like it.
