In an attempt to reduce costs but still retain some human interaction, an android named Saya is about to have a trial run as a teacher at a primary school in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She&#8221; has a latex face with 18 motors behind it, allowing her to make facial expressions including happiness, surprise, fear, disgust, sadness and anger.  She is capable of taking roll call and setting assignments, and can speak several languages.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese government has stated that it wants a robot in every home by 2015 and is spending $35 million for robotic intelligence research.
