To help them prepare, they&#8217;re asking fans to vote for their favorite SF movies and books (and to explain why they&#8217;re favorites).<\/p>\n<p>This should be an easy task; if there&#8217;s one thing that fans <EM>never<\/EM> seem to tire of debating, it&#8217;s what science fiction is &#8220;the best.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To help lubricate everyone&#8217;s mental gears, the New Scientist staff has posted lists of their <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/channel\/opinion\/dn14805-new-scientists-favourite-scifi-film-.html\">favo(u)rite SF films<\/A> (which also includes least favorite films <EM>and<\/EM> sub-lists like &#8220;Most gratuitously scantily-clad female character&#8221;) and <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/channel\/opinion\/dn14680-new-scientists-favourite-scifi-book.html\">favorite SF books<\/A>.  I&#8217;ll agree with their choice for movie.
