{"id":1024,"date":"2008-09-01T07:15:19","date_gmt":"2008-09-01T11:15:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/other-worlds-cafe.com\/news\/blog\/?p=1024"},"modified":"2008-08-28T15:25:53","modified_gmt":"2008-08-28T19:25:53","slug":"women-scientists-in-fiction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/other-worlds-cafe.com\/news\/blog\/?p=1024","title":{"rendered":"Women Scientists in Fiction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Visions database lists female scientists in fiction, in particular science fiction.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The database has three main purposes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To collect examples of female scientists in fiction, both through my own research and through suggestions from the public<\/li>\n<li>To collect, maintain and communicate these examples (with a view to possible expansions to include other areas, such as film &amp; TV or biographies of real-life female scientists)<\/li>\n<li>As a research tool enabling me to analyse the examples according to various factors such as date, gender of author, field of science practiced etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Each entry lists facts about the story in which the character appears, notes about her field of research, the author&#8217;s gender, and many more details.<\/p>\n<p>The database is pretty limited at the moment&#8211;there are fewer than 100 entries&#8211;but public submissions are encouraged.
