For the crafty amongst us, Etsy seller Larripin Labs (“Home of the Cross-Stitched Physicist”) sells, um, cross-stitched physicists.
Patterns currently available are Richard Feynman, Erwin Schrodinger, and Michio Kaku. She says, “since cross stitch seems to be a mostly female pursuit, I hope to spark some interest in young women in math and science.”
I think it’s a neat idea, although I’d like to see a few more patterns available (particularly that one picture of Einstein sticking out his tongue). If you’ve got a favorite physicist who isn’t available for stitching, check out the trial version of Stoik’s PM Stitch Creator 3.0, which allows you to convert photographs to cross-stitch patterns. You could do a whole wall of cross-stitched physicists. And then wonder why you never get invited to parties.
